Family Among 5 Hurt When Fleeing Vehicle Causes Deer Park Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A couple and their two young children were among five people hurt when a vehicle fleeing a traffic collision crashed Tuesday in north suburban Deer Park.

A Northfield man was driving a 2006 Lexus east on Lake Cook Road, fleeing the previous crash when his vehicle crossed the center line about 11 a.m. just west of Route 12, according to police and fire officials.

The Lexus crashed into a westbound 2007 Honda. Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles, and emergency crews had to cut them out of the wreck, fire officials said.

The 28-year-old driver of the Lexus was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, fire officials said. His condition was not yet known Tuesday evening.

A 36-year-old Crystal Lake man, his 31-year-old wife, and their two young sons — ages 3 and 6 — were in the Honda at the time. They all suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.

Sheriff's police continue to investigate the crash. No charges have been filed as of Tuesday evening.
