Fire Guts Vacant Warehouse In Arlington Heights

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A vacant Arlington Heights warehouse was destroyed in a massive blaze Thursday morning.

Arlington Heights police and firefighters responded to the fire at 1430 E. Davis St. around 6 a.m.

When firefighters arrived at the former Tower Plastics warehouse, flames were burning through the roof. Crews used several tower ladder trucks to douse the flames, and the Arlington Heights Fire Department raised a second alarm to bring in extra crews.

The entire roof and part of one wall collapsed in the blaze.

Crews had the fire under control by about 9:30 a.m.

Arlington Heights police said the warehouse was vacant. No injuries were reported.

An investigation into the cause of the fire was expected to begin Thursday afternoon.
