Experts Host Free Event For Drivers With Suspended Licenses

CHICAGO (AP) — Organizers say they're holding a symposium in Chicago for drivers who have had their licenses suspended or revoked and need legal help.

The Driver's License Expo is Saturday. It's free.

Representatives from the Illinois Secretary of State's Office, the Cook County Public Defender's Office and circuit court will be at the event.

The event is for anyone who may have had their license revoked or suspended for such offenses as failing to pay court fees or failing to submit a vehicle for emissions testing.

Maryam Ahmed is a Chicago Bar Association vice president. She says having a valid driver's license or government-issued identification card is crucial in getting a job and functioning as a productive member of society.

The event will be at Benito Juarez Community Academy's Performing Arts Center.
