Expect A Wintry Time At Soldier Field As Blackhawks Host Penguins

(CBS) -- Will the weather make some people re-thinking their desire to brave the cold Saturday night at Soldier Field, where the Blackhawks are hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins?

CBS 2's Mike Puccinelli reports.

Fans of the first-ever Blackhawks game at Solder Field can gather for up to four hours before the historic puck drop.

"We're thrilled to be back in Chicago," NHL marketing director Brian Jennings says.

It's a much bigger plaza then when the Hawks took over Wrigley Field for the Winter Classic five years ago.

"After a couple of championships, the fan base is a little bigger," team owner Rocky Wirtz said.

The atmosphere this time will be a whole lot colder, but NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman says he's not worried.

There will be two warming centers, but he expects that most fans will soldier on outside.

"People in Chicago are very hearty. They know how to dress for the winter," he said.
