Exit Polls: Democrats, Republicans Fearful Of Economic Future

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Concerns about the economy and the size of the federal government are among the top concerns for Illinois voters.

According to CBS 2/Edison Research exit polling data, the economy and jobs were top of mind for both Democrats and Republicans.

My overwhelming numbers, both Democrats and Republicans are worried about the country's economic future. A total of 69 percent of Republicans are "very worried" compared with 44 percent of Democrats.

42 percent of Dems said they are "somewhat worried"; 23 percent of Democrats.

Among Democrats, 46 percent said that was the most important issue facing the country, along with 38 percent of Republicans.

U.S. government spending was also a big driver among Republican voters (31 percent.)

Among Democrats, 24 percent said income inequality was the most important issue for Americans.

As for terrorism, 18 percent of Republicans said it was a top concern, compared with 9 percent for Democrats.
