Evidence Recovered In Search Of Marquette Park Lagoon

(STMW) -- Investigators have recovered evidence in their search of the Marquette Park lagoon, police said Monday.

A police source said divers were searching for human remains after detectives received information that a man may have murdered his girlfriend, dismembered her and disposed of her body in the lagoon at the Southwest Side park.

Officials could not provide specifics of the "evidence" Monday night.

Police marine units began searching the eastern shore of the water last Tuesday evening at the park near 71st Street and California Avenue, police said.
