Evergreen Park Man Charged In Fatal Shooting Near Midway

CHICAGO (STMW) -- An Evergreen Park man has been charged with murder in connection with a Southwest Side homicide during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Richard Magnan, 35, was charged with one count of first-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in a Walgreens parking lot near Midway International Airport early July 5.

Joel Bentley, 30, of the 5000 block of South Keating Avenue, was shot about 1 a.m. in the 6200 block of South Austin Avenue in the Clearing neighborhood, according to police and Cook County Medical Examiner's office. He was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 5:46 a.m.

Magnan is scheduled to appear in bond court Wednesday.
