Englewood Home Collapses After Fire

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A vacant home in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side collapsed after a fire early Thursday, according to fire authorities.

The fire at the home in the 6500 block of South Emerald Avenue was extinguished about 3:30 a.m., according to Chicago Fire Department Media Affairs. After the blaze was put out, authorities asked that the building — considered a "collapse danger" — receive "priority demolition from the Building Department."

At 5:30 a.m., CFD Media Affairs said the house had collapsed. No injuries were reported.
