Englewood Group Still Waiting On Park Field House

(CBS) -- An Englewood community group says it's still waiting on a promise four years ago by the Chicago Park District to install a field house at a neighborhood park.

"What's the holdup?  What's the halt in putting this facility over here?" asks Darryl Smith, president of the Englewood Political Task Force.

Listen to Group: Where Is Field House We Were Promised?

Smith says most of the money has already been promised to put in a field house and restrooms at the Ryan Harris Park at Marquette and Lowe.

And he says the park district promised four years ago it would actually build those structures.

"We're not looking for anything extravagant.  We just need a bathroom facility because a lot of little kids utilize this park," Smith says.

Ryan Harris Park is named for the 11-year-old girl who was raped and murdered in July 1998.

Her body was found in a lot in Englewood.

WBBM Newsradio was waiting for a response from the Chicago Park District.
