Emanuel Taps Sophia King To Fill 4th Ward Vacancy

(CBS) – There will soon be a new alderman for Chicago's 4th Ward.

On Monday, Mayor Rahm Emanuel named Sophia King, a 30-year Chicago resident, as his choice to replace Will Burns, who resigned earlier this year.

King is the founder of a not-for-profit that creates employment and other opportunities for African-American communities. She has also served on the Kenwood Park Advisory Council.

King will appear in front of city council's Rules Committee before a confirmation vote by the full council Wednesday.

King would then be sworn in.
