Elk Grove Business Owner Charged With Selling Merchandise With Counterfeit Blackhawks Logos

(CBS) -- The owner of the Max Warrant International Trading Corp. in Elk Grove Village was arrested and charged with selling items with counterfeit logos including Chicago Blackhawks items, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office.

Jeff Huang, 61, has been charged with five counts of unauthorized use of a trademark, a class 1 felony.

On Monday, investigators from the sheriff's office along with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations searched the business in the 1500 block of South Elmhurst Road and found more than 130,000 glass inserts, used in lampshades, with counterfeited logos from sports teams from the NFL, NHL, MLB NBA and collegiate sports. The sheriff's office says thousands of the inserts featured counterfeit Blackhawks logos.

The sheriff's office says he copied the logos and sent them to China to have them fixed onto the inserts.

Investigators obtained the search warrant after the NHL contacted the HIS about the business selling counterfeit merchandise.

Huang was released on electronic monitoring in bond court on Wednesday.
