Fire in Rosemont Fashion Outlet mall parking garage

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Firefighters rushed to the Fashion Outlets of Chicago shopping mall in northwest suburban Rosemont on Thursday, after an electric vehicle caught fire in the parking garage.

The fire started around 9:45 a.m. at the parking garage at the mall just off the Tri-State Tollway near Balmoral Avenue.

Rosemont Public Safety Department officials said roads in front of the mall were closed for a time as a result of the fire.

The fire was put out and the vehicle was towed out of the garage by around noon.

Roads around the mall reopened by around 1 p.m., but Level 1 of the garage was closed due to unsafe icy conditions. All other areas of the garage and mall were open.

Officials have not said what caused the fire.
