Elderly Man Told To Stop Shooting Down Icicles

ST. CHARLES TWP. (CBS) -- An elderly west suburban man will not be charged after choosing an unconventional method to knock icicles off his house—a handgun.

The man was caught shooting icicles hanging from his home Friday morning in west suburban St. Charles Township, Kane County Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Pat Gengler said

The 80-year-old man was shooting icicles hanging from his second-floor roof in the 6N300 block of Essex Avenue with a .22 revolver, Gengler said.

A neighbor called police to report the gunfire, he said.

Police told the man not to shoot any more icicles, but he had not been cited, nor charged with a crime as of Tuesday morning.
