Elderly Man Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Hobart

CHICAGO (STMW) -- An 89-year-old man died early Friday after being hit by a vehicle near his home in Hobart, Indiana.

The crash happened about 5:30 p.m. Thursday near Marion E. Beladela's home in the 4500 block of West 16th Street in Hobart, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Beladela was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died at 2:41 a.m. Friday, authorities said. An autopsy Saturday found he suffered multiple injuries and ruled his death an accident.

Hobart police referred questions to the Lake County sheriff's office. A spokesman could not immediately be reached for comment.
