Ebola Spreading Faster Than Expected In Africa: Local Expert

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A University of Chicago infectious disease specialist says Ebola is spreading faster than anyone expected and more people are needed on the ground in West Africa.

Dr. Michael David says latest figures have the Ebola virus killing over half of those with the disease--4,800 cases so far, with 2,300 deaths.

African nations need people who know how to track back people who have been in contact with victims, so that they can protect themselves.

David said that doctors in Sierra Leone said that treatment centers are full and patients who may have the disease are now staying in the homes.
