East Dundee Tickets Thrift Store For Pile Of Donated Goods Outside

(CBS) -- A northwest suburban village is taking action against a thrift store where donated goods have piled up in plain view of passersby.

East Dundee Village Administrator Bob Skurla says that when Community Thrift Store on Main Street is closed, people still donate unwanted items but leave them outside. Skrula says, "It literally looks like a dump."

Last week, Skurla says the East Dundee village issued a warning to the store and, on Monday, the for-profit thrift store was ticketed.

Skurla says the village has offered a suggestion for dealing with the issue. He says, that, "After hours, when they close the doors, put up chains across driveway with signs that say, 'Only during open hours. Please do not leave anything here.'"

Skurla says the village wants to work with the store to make sure the problem is dealt with. There's been no comment from store management.
