Durbin Works To Pass American Dream And Promise Act

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Illinois U.S. Senator Dick Durbin made an appeal on the Senate floor Wednesday.

He is asking for unanimous consent to pass the American Dream and Promise Act. That measure will establish a path to citizenship for Dreamers and immigrants with temporary protected status.

Senator Durbin first introduced the Dream Act 19 years ago.

The House passed the American Dream and Promise Act last June.
