Drivers Rescued From Flooded Underpass On Edens Expressway

CHICAGO (CBS) -- One moment they were driving along just fine, and then suddenly the rain came and they needed help right away.

Rescue crews used life boats last night to get people out of their cars, stuck on the flooded Edens Expy. in Winnetka.

Water rose quickly and hit a peak of about three feet, firefighters said.

Drivers suddenly had to abandon their cars, climbing onto the roof to stay safe.

There were no reports of any injuries. About five people needed to be rescued.

The water receded after a couple of hours.

Also in Winnetka, some residents were facing a messy cleanup after their basements flooded.
