Driver Rushed To Hospital After Crashing Into Funeral Parlor In Wheeling

WHEELING, Ill. (CBS) -- A driver was taken to the hospital Sunday after a crash in Wheeling.

A vehicle went out of control and slammed into the porch of a home and funeral parlor at 189 S. Milwaukee Ave. in the north suburb.

The car was so badly mangled that paramedics had to cut the driver out of the wreckage.

"We had one car leave Milwaukee Avenue and hit the corner of the building," said Wheeling Fire Department Battalion Chief Mark Menzel. "The patient was pinned in the car. Crews had extrication for about 20 minutes and were able to get him."

The driver was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. No one in the building was injured.
