Driver Killed In Fiery Van Crash In Naperville

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A person died after a van crashed into a tree and caught fire early Monday in west suburban Naperville.

The 2015 Dodge ProMaster van was southbound in the 1400 block of North Washington Street at 1:43 a.m. when it left the road, struck a tree and caught fire, according to Naperville police. Police officers and Naperville Fire Department crews who responded found the van engulfed in flames.

The fire was extinguished and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver's name wasn't being released Monday morning pending notification of family.

Washington was closed between Bauer Road and 14th Street until about 5:50 a.m., police said.
