Driver Charged After Shots Fired On Party Bus In Gold Coast

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A party bus driver is facing charges after shots were fired from the vehicle early Sunday in the Gold Coast neighborhood.

Omar Massoud, 32, of the 4200 block of North Broadway was charged with reckless conduct and being a party to a crime, both misdemeanors, according to Chicago Police.

Officers heard gunfire near the 100 block of West Division Street at 2:30 a.m. and people indicated that a party bus heading west on Division might have been involved, police said. No one was struck by the shots.

Officers stopped the bus and found five guns inside, police said. A 35-year-old man was taken into custody for questioning.

Massoud, the bus driver, was taken to a police station for questioning and later charged. He is next scheduled to appear in court Feb. 10.
