Downtown CTA Buses Rerouted After Debris Falls From Loop Building

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Part of State Street remains closed to traffic in the Loop Monday after bricks fell from a building Sunday night, causing headaches for some bus riders' morning commute.

The fallen debris was reported about 8:40 p.m. from a building in the 200 block of South State, police said.

State's southbound lanes and sidewalks are closed to traffic between Adams and Jackson with several CTA buses rerouted around the blockage, according to police and the transit agency. Affected routes include buses #2, #6, #29, #36, #62, #146 and #148.

City building inspectors had been notified and were scheduled to investigate Monday morning, police said.
