Trump To Attend September Fundraiser In Bolingbrook

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump plans to return to the Chicago area next month for a fundraiser.

Longtime GOP fundraiser Ron Gidwitz confirmed he will be co-hosting a luncheon for Trump on Sept. 12 at the Bolingbrook Golf Club. Details on the event were not immediately available.

Trump hasn't been seen much around Chicago since his aborted campaign rally at UIC in March.

He canceled his March 11 rally at the UIC Pavilion amid security concerns, after thousands of protesters and supporters faced off outside. Trump said he decided to cancel the event after meeting with law enforcement officials, but Chicago police said they never met with the Trump campaign, nor did they suggest canceling the rally.

Police and protesters clashed outside the UIC Pavilion after the event was cancelled. Four people were arrested and at least one officer was injured.

A few days later, Trump returned to Illinois for a campaign rally in Bloomington,

Trump flew into Chicago in July for a private fundraiser at the Trump International Hotel & Tower, although he didn't make a public appearance.
