CHICAGO (CBS) -- Firefighters rescued a dog from Lake Michigan on Friday, after the animal fell into the icy water on the South Side.

Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said a woman was walking her dog near 41st and Lake Shore Drive, when the dog ran onto the frozen lake and went into the water around 10:30 a.m.

When crews arrived, the woman was on the ice, trying to get her dog. Firefighters got the woman to shore, then a diver went in the water to rescue the dog.
