Dog Left In Animal Control Van For Days
(CBS) -- A major benefactor of Chicago Animal Care and Control tells WBBM the latest foul-up at the facility -- a dog left in a city van for five nights -- is "unconscionable."

It was last Saturday night, when a dog adoption event was held at the Chicago Wolves game at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont.
Chicago Animal Care and Control took several dogs there, but then decided to take one dog back to the van because she became agitated.
Then the dog was apparently forgotten, for five nights. She was left in the van with little or no food or water. Employees eventually found out.
"Luckily the dog was alive," says Don Levin, chairman of the Chicago Wolves.
Last year, he pledged $2 million to help finance an overhaul of the Animal Care and Control facility.
"It lost a lot of weight and drank a lot of water," Levin says of the dog's condition. "You can see the dog's bones, I understand."
He calls it "unconscionable."
A spokesman for Animal Control says there's an investigation underway.
Last year, WBBM and the Better Government Association reported on the accidental deaths of two dogs at Animal Care and Control and the disciplinary action against employees.
