Dog Injured By Gunshots Is On The Mend

(CBS) -- A six-year-old Labrador-mix saved by two Chicago police officers is on the mend after a harrowing experience.

Sophie was up and walking around Friday, some 36 hours after she was shot in the head and her left front paw.

Police rushed her to the veterinarian Wednesday after her owner was found dead in his Rogers Park apartment.

Sophie might have to have more surgery, and her care is expected to cost about $10,000.
