Divvy Bike Stations To Reopen Thursday

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Divvy bicycle stations will reopen Thursday morning after a nearly a week of closures due to severe winter weather, the agency announced Tuesday evening.

Crews will be out removing snow from the shared bike stations and performing routine maintenance on Wednesday before riders can begin renting out bikes again Thursday morning, according to a Divvy news release.

"It seems Chicago is finally escaping its week of extreme weather and is heading back toward a more regular winter routine," the release said.

Divvy, the city's newest transit agency, had shut down twice over the past week, from last Thursday to Saturday afternoon and then again Sunday as snowstorms and historically frigid temperatures bore down on Chicago.

Thursday's forecasted high temperature is 26 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
