Dion Knight Gets 15 Years For Shooting Into Naperville Crowd In 2016
WHEATON, Ill. (AP) — A suburban Chicago judge has sentenced a Naperville man to 15 years in prison for opening fire on a group of people early on Thanksgiving Day 2016.
DuPage County prosecutors said Monday that 32-year-old Dion Knight pleaded guilty to one count of felony aggravated battery on Jan. 11.
Prosecutors say Knight was driving through an apartment complex parking lot at about 2 a.m. on Nov. 24, 2016, when he opened fire on the group. One victim was struck in the upper right chest. The wound wasn't life threatening. Prosecutors say Knight fled the scene.
A Naperville police investigation led to Knight, who has been in custody on $300,000 bond since his arrest. He will be required to serve 85% of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
