Derrick Rose Wears An 'I Can't Breathe' T-Shirt In Tribute To Eric Garner

(CBS) Bulls point guard Derrick Rose wore a black "I can't breathe" T-shirt during warmups before Saturday night's home contest against the Warriors. It was a tribute to the late Eric Garner, who suffocated to death in July when a police officer in Staten Island, N.Y., put him in a chokehold that was captured on video after the unarmed Garner, an African-American, was accused of selling cigarettes illegally.

A grand jury's decision earlier this week to not indict that police officer has caused racially charged nationwide protests and uproar.

Rose's statement isn't out of the ordinary for athletes -- five St. Louis Rams recently walked onto the field with a "hands up, don't shoot" pose in tribute to the late Michael Brown -- but it is unique to Rose.
