DePaul, Northwestern Agree To 5-Year Basketball Series

(CBS) DePaul and Northwestern announced Monday that they've agreed to a five-year basketball series, starting with the 2015-'16 season.

The Blue Demons will host three games in the series, while the Wildcats will host two. They teams wanted to play this upcoming season as well but couldn't find a date that worked for both sides.

"As a Chicago native, I think it's terrific for basketball in the area to have Northwestern and DePaul play one another, Northwestern coach Chris Collins said in a statement. "There have been some great games between the teams over the years, and we look forward to that continuing."

DePaul topped Northwestern, 57-56, last season on a buzzer-beating shot at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The Blue Demons went 12-21 last year, while the Wildcats were 14-18.
