DePaul edges Illinois-Chicago 72-71

CHICAGO (AP) — Tommy Hamilton IV scored 17 points to lead DePaul to a 72-71 win over Illinois-Chicago in the season opener for both teams Friday night.

Leading 46-30 at the break, DePaul had to hold off a surging UIC team in the second half to secure the win.

Hamilton, who was 7 of 11 from the field, got help from Billy Garrett Jr., who had 12 points, and Myke Henry and Forrest Robinson, who had 11 points apiece in the win.

UIC was led by Marc Brown, who scored 19 points, while Paris Burns and Jake Wiegand had 15 points apiece for the Flames

The Blue Devils improved their record against UIC to 5-1 with the win.
