Dense Fog Advisory For Chicago Area Wednesday Morning

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Dense fog blanketed the Chicago area overnight, making for a slow morning commute.

While the fog has begun clearing as the sun has come out, the National Weather Service has issued a dense fog advisory through 10 a.m., with visibility down to ¼ mile in some areas.

Drivers should slow down on the roads, use their headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of them.

After the fog clears on Wednesday, thunderstorms are possible in the evening, There is a slight risk of severe storms in areas southwest of a line from Rockford to Paxton, but those storms are expected to die out very quickly as they move east, with only scattered storms likely after midnight.
