DeKalb Man Charged With Fatally Beating, Stabbing Girlfriend

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 20-year-old DeKalb man with a history of domestic violence has been charged with killing his girlfriend.

When 19-year-old Moorea Desroches didn't show up for work for a couple days, and her mother could not reach her, her mother called police for a well-being check on Sunday. Officers found Desroches' body in a bedroom closet in the apartment she shared with her boyfriend, Michael Kulpin.

Police said Kulpin had beaten and stabbed Desroches to death late Friday or early Saturday. Kulpin has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated domestic battery, and concealment of a homicide. He was being held on $2 million bail.
