Deadly Shooting On I-57 Near Blue Island

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was shot to death in a car on Interstate 57 Wednesday night near south suburban Blue Island.

According to Illinois State Police, the shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday near the Cal Sag channel.

Troopers were first called about a car crash.

When they arrived, they found 39-year-old Steven Hudson had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police shut down the outbound lanes of I-57 south of 127th Street for several hours.

Police said a car pulled up to a second car and fired shots, hitting Hudson several times. Hudson's car slammed into the concrete barrier, bounced across all lanes of traffic and then hit the barrier on the other side.

Police said a loaded gun was founded on the floor board on Hudson's car, which was a rental.
