Cubs Won't Host Watch Party At Wrigley Field For Wild-Card Game

(CBS) After much discussion about hosting a watch party at Wrigley Field if they're on the road for next Wednesday's wild-card game, the Cubs have chosen to pass on the idea because of logistical challenges.

"After much consideration regarding the logistics and time required to successfully execute an exceptional guest experience while actively preparing for potential postseason play at home, we have decided to put this plan on hold," Cubs spokesman Julian Green said in a statement.

"Given the excitement we have seen from Cubs fans this season, we know our fans will find a great place to watch the game and cheer on our team."

The Cubs have clinched a playoff spot and trail the Pirates by 2.5 games -- two in the loss column -- for the right to host the wild-card game next Wednesday. If the teams finished tied, Chicago will host the game because it won the season series.
