Cubs To Open 2016 Season On April 5 At Angels

(CBS) The Cubs will open the 2016 season on April 5 by playing on the road against the Los Angeles Angels, MLB announced Tuesday in releasing tentative schedules. It will be the first time since 1984 that Chicago opens its season in California.

Chicago's home opener will be April 11 against Cincinnati.

The Cubs and White Sox will play four times in 2016, with U.S. Cellular Field hosting games on July 25 and 26 and Wrigley Field welcoming the rivalry on July 27 and 28.

Other than the White Sox, the Cubs' interleague games will be against teams from the AL West. The schedule features five three-game homestands and five three-city road trips.

The Cubs will face the rival Cardinals 19 times, including six times in September 2016. Chicago finishes its 2016 season with three games at Pittsburgh and then three more at Cincinnati.
