Cubs Scheduled To Travel Fewest Miles In MLB This Season

(CBS) A terrific interactive chart at baseballsavant.com  has revealed that Cubs are scheduled to travel 22,969 miles this season on road trips, the fewest miles of any MLB team.

The Seattle Mariners, who are some 700 miles from the next-nearest baseball team, will travel much farther than any other team -- 51,540 miles, which is more than double the circumference of Earth.

The Cubs' shorter travel is made possible not just by Chicago being a geographically-centered location in the country in relation to baseball cities but also because many of their divisional games are close. And of course, the two road games in the crosstown showdown with the White Sox makes for a short trip, too.

The White Sox are scheduled to travel 27,214 miles this season.
