Cubs, Ruggiano Agree To 1-year, $2-million deal

(CBS) The Chicago Cubs and outfielder Justin Ruggiano have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2-million contract on Wednesday.

Ruggiano, 31, hit .222 with 18 homers and 50 RBIs with a .396 slugging percentage in 128 games for Miami last season. The Cubs acquired him from the Marlins in a December trade, sending away Brian Bogusevic.

Second baseman Darwin Barney and pitcher Jeff Smardzija are the Cubs' last two players remaining eligible for arbitration.
