Cubs Prospect Dan Vogelbach Returning To Double-A Smokies After Injury
(CBS) Cubs first baseman prospect Dan Vogelbach is set to return to action for Double-A Tennessee.
Having been sidelined since early July with an oblique injury, Vogelbach tweeted Thursday that he's "finally" ready to return to the lineup. He had recently been in Arizona rehabbing and getting some at-bats in.
Vogelbach, 22, is ranked as the 12th-best prospect in the Cubs' organization by MLB.com. Vogelbach's hitting .284 with five homers, 34 RBIs and a .842 OPS in 61 games for the Smokies this season. He was 5-for-11 in rehab work in Arizona.
He hasn't played for Tennessee since July 3. Vogelbach is likely to finish the season at Double-A, Cubs director of player development Jaron Madison has said previously.
