Cubs Players React To NL Championship Win

CHICAGO (CBS) --  Many Cubs fans had been waiting for decades to see their team make it to the World Series. It happened Saturday night when they finished off the Dodgers with a 5-0 win in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series at Wrigley Field.

And as CBS 2's Megan Mawicke reports, player after Cubs player said they won the NL pennant for the fans.

"The upper tiers of this organization ... they've known what this is going to be, especially for the fans of the city," Cubs pitcher Kyle Hendricks said. "We know what these fans have been through."

Added Cubs catcher David Ross said: "I'm very happy for the city of Chicago and these guys."

So many of the players said they still have so much more to do, but they're eager to bring back a win.

The Indians will host the Cubs in Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday night. First pitch is at 7:08 p.m., and the hometown call can be heard on 670 The Score.
