Cubs Place Ruggiano On DL, Recall LHP Rosscup, RHP Ramirez

(CBS) The Cubs have recalled left-hander Zac Rosscup and right-hander Neil Ramirez ahead of this afternoon's contest against the Diamondbacks and also placed outfielder Justin Ruggiano on the 15-day disabled list, the team announced.

Righty Blake Parker has also been optioned to Triple-A Iowa.

Ruggiano suffered a strained left hamstring when diving for a catch yesterday. It's a grade-2 strain that will keep him out three or four weeks, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reported. Ruggiano was used in a platoon role and is hitting just .229 this season with one homer and six RBIs.

Rosscup and Ramirez will both be available this afternoon. In his only appearance of the year for the Cubs, Rosscup threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings as the 26th man in the nightcap of a doubleheader against the Yankees on April 16.

This is Ramirez's first appearance on a major league roster.
