Cubs Option Junior Lake, 2 Others To Triple-A Iowa

(CBS) The Cubs reduced their spring roster to 32 players Wednesday by optioning three players to Triple-A Iowa.

Outfielder Junior Lake, right-hander Brian Schlitter and left-hander Zac Rosscup will be headed to Des Moines in moves that come as no surprise.

Lake hit .302 with one homer, eight RBIs and a .773 OPS in 21 spring games. Schlitter had a 10.13 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in six appearances. Rosscup had a 3.00 and 1.11 WHIP in nine appearances.

Chicago now has 16 pitchers, four catchers, six infielders and six outfielders this spring.
