Cubs Name Dan Vogelbach, Jeremy Null Their Minor League Players Of The Month
(CBS) The Cubs have named infielder Dan Vogelbach of Double-A Tennesse and right-hander Jeremy Null of Single-A South Bend their minor league player and pitcher of the month for April, respectively.
The 22-year-old Vogelbach hit .362 with three homers and 13 RBis in 19 games for Tennessee. He had a 1.064 OPS and .470 on-base percentage. Vogelbach was tied for first in the Southern League in walks, total bases (41) and extra-base hits (10) and was second in on-base percentage, slugging and OPS.
He was a second-round pick by the Cubs in the 2011 amateur draft.
The 21-yearold Null was 2-0 with a 0.79 ERA -- two earned runs in 22 2/3 innings -- in four April starts. He struck out 23 batters and didn't issue a walk. He's been unscored upon in his past 13 2/3 innings.
Null was a 15th-round pick of Chicago in the 2014 amateur draft.
