The Cubs haven't commented on the injury yet, but a torn Achilles' tendon often keeps players out an entire season.
Watkins hit .246 in 65 at-bats with a .269 on-base percentage for the Cubs in 2014. He was expected to compete for a reserve role this season. Watkins had a .256/.327/.364 line with four homers, 38 RBIs and 23 stolen bases in 324 at-bats at Triple-A Iowa in 2014.
