Cubs' Kyle Schwarber Carted Off Field, Suffers Sprained Ankle
(CBS) Cubs left fielder Kyle Schwarber was carted off the field with a sprained left ankle in the bottom of second inning of Thursday's road contest against the Diamondbacks after colliding with center field Dexter Fowler.
The initial X-rays were negative, and Schwarber will have an MRI on Friday, the team announced. At that point, more should be known about his timetable for a return.
On a scary play, Schwarber tried to make a catch on Jean Segura's long drive into the gap but couldn't get there. In the process, he was clipped low by Fowler, and Segura got an inside-the-park homer.
Schwarber stayed down on the ground for a few minutes while being tended to by trainers as manager Joe Maddon and teammates gathered around.
Went back to watch that Schwarber collision again in real time. Ugly stuff. pic.twitter.com/Cckf20nMtL

Regular third baseman Kris Bryant moved to left field, and Tommy La Stella took over at third.
