(CBS) Cubs ace Jake Arrieta has been named the National League's Pitcher of the Month for April, the league announced Monday.

The reigning NL Cy Young winner, Arrieta picked up right where he left off in a historic 2015, going 5-0 with a 1.00 and 0.78 WHIP in 36 innings. Arrieta also had 32 strikeouts against 10 walks and held opposing batters to a .151 batting average.

Arrieta's five wins in April tied for the most in baseball and are currently second behind only White Sox ace Chris Sale, who moved to 6-0 on the first day of May. Arrieta's 1.00 ERA is third in MLB, trailing only Tigers right-hander Jordan Zimmermann (0.55) and teammate Jason Hammel (0.75). He also recorded his second career no-hitter in an April 21 gem against the Reds.
