Cubs Fans Stock Up On Gear Ahead Of World Series

CHICAGO (CBS) -- With the National League Championship in their pockets, Cubs fans have been heading to Wrigleyville to buy shirts... and hats... and other gear.

Among the most popular items fans bought were blue t-shirts that say "Raise the National League Championship Flag."

Kevin Madden was only able to find a hat that said World Series on it - other World Series merchandise had already sold out by 10:30 a.m.

Employees at one of the stores around Wrigley Field said they were getting more supplies throughout the day.

One fan who spoke to WBBM says he was at the game last night but had to return today to buy items because the streets were too crowded after the Cubs clinched a spot in the World Series.

Fans reveling in the team's first appearance in 71 years brought out even the occasional White Sox fan - one man said he was there to support his Cub fan wife and daughters but not to buy anything for himself.
