Cubs Fans Optimistic With Maddon Hiring
(CBS) -- Cubs fans are embracing the team's new manager.
About two dozen fans stood outside the Cubby Bear waiting to get a glimpse of Joe Maddon after the team held a press conference there introducing the new skipper Monday afternoon.
Diehard fan Donna Brookshire drove in from Waukegan to get her hat signed by Maddon.
She calls him the light at the end of the tunnel.
"Your gut tells you," she insisted.
Joe Kolb of Lakeview says he likes Maddon's attitude and reputation for working with young players while in Tampa Bay.
Mark Wiremiller was a little more tempered with his excitement, saying the team can't be worse under Maddon than it has been for the last couple of years.
