Cubs Fans Keeping Hope Alive Despite 0-2 Hole Heading Into NLCS Game 3

CHICAGO (CBS) -- It's not an elimination game for the Cubs, but with the Mets leading 2-0 in the National League Championship Series headed into Game 3 at Wrigley Field, it feels like a must-win matchup for Chicago.

The Mets won the first two games of the best-of-seven series in New York and send their best pitcher to the mound Tuesday night in righty Jacob deGrom, who has given up only two runs in 13 innings in his two postseason starts. His impressive 2.54 ERA during the regular season ranked fourth in the NL.

Despite losing the first two games with the Cubs' two best starters on the mound, Chicago fans were still optimistic that their team can bounce back starting Tuesday night.

Fans were already lining up at 4 a.m., hoping to snag some of the few face-value tickets still available at the Wrigley Field box office five hours before it even opened. Dennis Daley flew in from Portland just to see the game.

"I'm a lifelong Cub fan," he said. "I was here in '84, and I wanted to be here again for a moment like this."

For Cubs fans, Game 3 tickets are a chance to watch history, and they're keeping hope alive the North Siders can rally to advance to the World Series.

"I think we're going to win it in six," James Felke said. "I'm going to try to go to the next three games here. I've already got my flight booked for New York next weekend."

Cubs fans, perhaps more than any other fans in all of sports, are used to adversity, so they weren't dismayed when they were told there were no more tickets to sell at the box office.

"I've been watching them lose for 35 years, so what's another game?" David Hayes said.

If you're still looking for Game 3 tickets, they're available from brokers like StubHub. Standing room only starts at $140 each. Upper-deck seats start around $190, bleachers start around $245 and seats closest to the infield are going for up to $5,000 or more.
