Cubs Fans Do Not Let Game 1 Affect Their Spirits
CHICAGO (CBS) – Despite the weather and the loss last night, Cubs fans still believe this is the year.
Fans said they are surprised the Cubs were shut out and thought the team would do better. But tonight, they know the Cubs can tie the series.
CBS 2's Susanna Song spoke with some of those fans, including a pair on their way to Cleveland now.
The two men left Wednesday from Wrigleyville around 8:30 a.m. on their way to see Game 2 in Cleveland.
It is a last minute trip for Justin Jackson and Patrick Lutz. They won the tickets Tuesday night at a silent auction.
"We're heading to Cleveland, going to the World Series, get there at 1, find a place to park," Jackson said.
The two grabbed coffee before their five-and-a-half-hour road trip.
"Kluber is good, hopefully we inject some luck," Lutz said. "We're going to do it tonight. Three in a row at home. Feeling a win tonight."
CBS spoke with some other optimistic fans, that are not letting the Game 1 loss affect their spirits.
"I was waiting," said Carolyn Weis, Cubs fan. "Especially when bases were loaded, I thought we'd pull it off. Got to keep hope going."
Hope – a word many fans are using.
"We're not going to lose hope," said Claudia Thorne, Cubs fan. 'We'll win tonight."
Last night's loss was the third shutout in the post season. Next up is Jake Arrieta. He will face Cleveland's Trevor Bauer.
